Marvin Melvin Adams, born March 20, 1936 in Melville, Louisiana and raised some in Melville and also Pointe Coupee Parish near Jacoby, Innis, McCrea and Lettsworth, Louisiana.

After his mother, Eva Mae Jones died March 4, 1943 when he was almost 7 years old and his daddy, Robert Franklin "Frank" Adams, II died February 20, 1949 when Melvin was almost 13 years old, Melvin lived with his Uncles Leroy Adams and then Uncle Charlie Adams and also other family members.  At the age of 16 he moved to Miami, FL with his brother, Robert Franklin "Cotton Top Bud" Adams, III and lived there for about one year.

When he was 19 in 1955 he moved to New Orleans and became a barber.  So, that is how he has the name, “Marvin The Barber” around the Napoleon ST. area where his barbershop was located.  He had six sisters and five brothers.

He was preceded in death by, Prince A Adams, Sybil Elaine Adams, Marjorie Mae Adams, Jessie Roy Adams, Helen Adams, Robert Franklin "Cotton Top Bud" Adams III, Albert Edward Adams and John Hubert Adams.

 Three sisters survive him,

Esther Lee Orgeron and her husband Ernest Orgeron of Hialeah, FL

Regina Dean and her husband Bobby Dean of Baton Rouge, LA

Jo Ann Hansen and her husband Don Hansen of Vancleave, MS

He also had many beloved cousins, nieces and nephews.  Two special ones were Dixie and Dallas Doyle - the twins of his life long friend and neighbor Joe Doyle.  He spent their birthday, October 23rd at their house where they lived only one block from his house.

All his life he referred to Georgie Krasgrow as his “beloved” nephew.  He was very confident in Georgie and called on him for help many times in his life.  Georgie made last year for “Christmas 2000” very special with a visit to his home in Slidell with many presents and much food and several family members.  Marvin told family members Christmas 2000 was his best Christmas ever.

His paternal Grand Parents were Robert Franklin "French" Adams and Ella Catherine Calvert.

His maternal Grand Parents were William Mitchell Jones and Mittie Summers Husted.

His Great Grand Father, Jefferson Moore Adams was a Confederate Soldier in the Civil War of 1861 - 1865 and Great Grand Mother was Cecelia Aldridge the daughter of Alexander Aldridge and Carolyn Jones.
